A Christmas Tree Canvas

Can you believe that Christmas is in the air already? It is amazing how quickly the year went! Well, being it is all about Christmas already, I decided to make a Christmas mixed media canvas for this month’s design team post for Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge Blog.

The Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge Blog offers a monthly challenge for mixed media artists. The theme is anything goes, but you must always use more than one media. There rules can be found here. It’s a great way to show your work and meet other artists. Have a look at the blog. They do have prizes!

This piece was really easy to make. In the background I used texture paste, acrylic paint and gesso. I rolled up strips of scrapbook paper sealing the ends with glue, and cut them in varying lenghts for the tree. I then glued them in place on the decorated canvas adding a trunk and a aniseed for the star. To finish off, I used a make up sponge I went around the edges of the canvas with black pigment ink and added gold leaf in random spots on the canvas.
