Today I am sharing with you an upcycled canvas that I made forThe Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge. Look at all that scrumptious texture! It was a very simple project as the texture was already on the canvas, I just had to make it look pretty.

I had covered this canvas with tissue paper a while back intending on doing an under the sea theme, but it just never happened. I lost interest and I put it aside until today! I wanted a textured canvas for a quick project and this was perfect. It took several coats to cover it as some of the tissue paper was bleeding through. I decided to embrace the color coming through and incorporate it into a bluish background.

I added some color with acrylic paint and a distress crayon. When that dried I stuck the floral embellishments and butterfly with some gel medium. I allowed them to dry and then outlined them with charcoal, gently blending with a stiff brush before sealing with spray varnish.

Be sure to check out The Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge. It’s a monthly challenge and the theme is always everything goes.
Thank you for stopping. Happy crafting!
