A Fishy Canvas

Each month I prepare a mixed media piece for The Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge. The Creative Artiste Mixed Media Challenge Blog offers a monthly challenge for mixed media artists. The theme is anything goes, but you must always use more than one media. Their rules can be found here. It’s a great way to show your work and meet other artists. Have a look at the blog. They do have prizes! This month I made A Fishy Canvas.

This is a 9 x12″ canvas that I first covered with decoupage paper. I then drew on the fish and painted the negative space with acrylic inks. I outlined the fish with a Stabilo All Pencil and added the eyes. Washi tape added an interesting element to the piece, helping to separate the blocks. To finish off I used a rubber stamp to add texture to the background and accented areas with a white gel pen.
