Getting Ready for Christmas: A Journal Page

Hello my crafty friends, today I will share with you my journal page for the Crafty Catz Challenge. The optional theme is “Getting Ready for Christmas”. The Crafty Catz is a weekly challenge blog with different themes each week. Enter your designs for a chance to win a prize.

Journal Page

This week I used a design from The Paper Shelter called Follow the Stars.

The Paper Shelter

The supplies I used for this journal page are:

  • Art journal or a piece of heavy paper
  • matte medium
  • collage paper
  • Yellow Oxide Paint
  • White acrylic or gesso
  • digital image printed on cardstock
  • markers to color image
  • purple metallic paint. 
  • gold pen 
  • gold Gelato
  • charcoal
  • circle punch and metallic paper

Follow the steps below.

Using matte medium, stick the music sheet onto the journal page.

Apply a coat of yellow oxide and leave it to dry.

Apply a thin coat of gesso or white acrylic to push back the background.

Journal Page
Paint with the page purple leaving out an oval opening where we will put the image.

Cut some circles out and stick on the top of the page. Outline the oval with a the gold Gelato and blend with your finger.

Color your image and stick in place.

Use a gold pen to outline the circles, add dots to the circles and draw lines down to them.  Outline the image and circle with your charcoal pencil.
