The theme for this fortnights challenge at The Crafter’s Cafe is “masculine”. I am using an image entitled “Youer Than You” from one of our sponsors, Bugaboo. You can get this and many more images at Bugaboo.
Isn’t it adorable?
Follow along below to see how I made this journal page.
Supplies used:
- Art Journal
- Gesso
- Water soluble crayons
- Acrylic paint. I used white, a light blue, a dark blue and red
- Stencils
- Cardstock
- Digital image
- Markers or colored pencils to color your image.
- Glue
- Paintbrushes
- Make up sponge
- Water
Prepare your journal page by applying a coat of gesso. When that is dry, scribble all over the page with a water soluble crayon.
Using a wet paint brush, spread around the color.
Dry your page and grab your favorite stencil and some acrylic paint. As the theme this fortnight is masculine, I am sticking blue. Place the stencil on your page and using a make up sponge, dab the stencil with the acrylic paint. Apply wherever you like. Add some paint splatters using diluted white acrylic and a toothbrush.
Using another stencil and a contrasting color, dab to apply more texture. Add more paint splatters with the white acrylic and leave to dry.
Color your digital image, cut out and mount on cardstock.
Finally, stick the mounted image onto your page.
